A Nasty Choice

I've made quite a few posts regarding the fanfic series Urusei Yatsura: The Senior Year, mainly because it's one of the best known fanfic stories for an anime show that has been relatively forgotten in the American anime fanfiction world. I've also written about how I don't really think the series is all that, despite being so fully fleshed out: it's pacing drags, Ataru is basically a saint who can do no wrong, and the writer seems to have a thing for lesbian relationships.

Well, an idea recently popped into my head for a story, or a series or stories, set in the Senior Year universe, designed to totally be its own thing, independent of continuity, and present the universe in a different, probably better written light than usual.

The only problem with this idea is that, for the sake of trying to avoid fans of this fanfic, I'm probably going to have to read the entire main series, from end to end.

The whole 50 chapter series.

The whole almost a million words including side stories on fanfiction.net series.

The thought of it makes me shudder.

But if I'm going to write this, I'm going to get up to speed. I just hope I don't go crazy in the meantime...
